Arc System Works' long-running 2D Fighting series returns with more combo-heavy combat, new cel-shaded character designs, and a new antagonist in Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign. Set one year after the events of Guilty Gear 2: Overture, the action finds a young woman named Ramletherl Valentine declaring war on the entire world. Players can choose from more than a dozen different characters, each with unique fighting styles, special attacks, and instant kills when on the advance, and special Psych Bursts, Roman Cancels, and Blitz Shields while defending.

Battle mode offers three sub-modes, with Versus giving players the chance to engage in traditional best-of-three bouts to determine a victor, Arcade mode finding gamers battling eight CPU-controlled characters to unlock the story of Xrd, and M.O.M. taking place on a special map and rewarding players with medals to enhance their character. A separate Story mode offers a console-exclusive narrative featuring animated cut scenes, while those looking to hone their skills can take on tutorials, missions, challenges, and training in the Practice mode, and the Database mode keeps track of stats and replays. Gamers can also head online to engage in casual Player matches or serious Ranked matches, and Xrd: Sign supports cross-platform play, so PS3 and PS4 users can battle one another.
