SNK's long-running fighting series returns with new 3D character graphics, an expanded roster, and a new story arc in The King of Fighters XIV. The new story finds an eccentric billionaire named Antonov, who claims to be the tournament's first champion, buying the rights to the King of Fighters tournament in an attempt to restore its lost glory. There are 50 fighters available, including 19 new characters, and each has been designed using 3D models rather than hand-drawn sprites, though the action still takes place on a 2D plane.

Players can unleash stunning Climax Super Special combo moves as they compete in Story, VS, and Team Battle modes, while the new Rush feature lets novices compete simply by repeatedly pressing the Light Attack button. The franchise's Max mode returns in a new form to let gamers use EX Special moves and perform unlimited combos, while fans of multiplayer action can battle one-on-one in local matches, or head online for three-on-three party battles.

This version comes in a special SteelBook case featuring the character Kyo Kusanagi.
